Why an animal-shaped beehive?

A real hive must work for bees and trained beekeepers first. Representing an artistic hive in the shape of an animal adds a memorable visual story but does not remove the technical requirements of healthy colonies.

Bear #001 is the first public symbol of this approach. Future Challenge rounds are designed to let communities explore other animals and contribute to creative selection.

The adult creative journey

The adult experience uses connected missions: profile creation, animal choice, artwork submission, voting and sharing. The goal is to make participation approachable even for people who are not professional artists.

Drawing files, photographs of the finished artwork and proof of original creation may have different roles. ApeTerra continues to refine bilingual instructions so that participants know what to upload and when.

Children and schools require different safeguards

Younger participants need age-appropriate pathways and consent procedures involving parents or teachers. School activities also require care around children’s information and images.

The value is not limited to winning a vote. Observing animals, discussing pollination and making a drawing can become meaningful classroom work. Families should check the rules of the relevant Junior or Schools programme before entering.

From a community selection to a hive concept

A chosen drawing may inspire a physical artistic beehive design. The process between a digital picture and a safe installation includes engineering, suitable materials, beekeeping expertise, land planning and resources.

ApeTerra’s Journal distinguishes completed voting rounds, design studies, prototypes and installed works. A creative entry is not proof that a hive has already been built.

Can non-artists join in?

People who do not draw may still learn, take part in available votes, share the project or support the artistic Bear through the separate digital pixel experience.

Quick, clear answers about this topic.

Can children participate without supervision?

Children’s activities use age-appropriate pathways and parental or teacher permissions where required.

Does a selected drawing immediately become a real hive?

No. A creative selection can inspire a design, which still requires professional beekeeping and technical validation.
